Cartoons and colors – what a bond they share. I mean, what are cartoons without colors? Imagine a comic strip, or a television cartoon show, wherein all the characters are black and white, or worse still, mere outlines. You would itch to get your hands on the creators of those strips and programs and give them a piece of your mind on how important color is to the eyes, wouldn’t you?
I seriously feel like doing exactly that when I see some newspapers printing our favorite cartoon strips, such as Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield in black and white. I mean, it is an insult to the cartoon characters, to be printed without the vivid colors that must accompany them, isn’t it? It’s like stripping someone of their identity.
Now, there is only one place where I think I can tolerate mere outlines of cartoon characters, and that is when they are depicted in cartoon coloring pages. These cartoon coloring pages are actually quite fun to complete. All of us, whether young or old, love cartoons, I’m sure. And when we ourselves get a chance to imagine and convert our imaginations of the various color combinations that might suit a particular scene portrayed in the cartoon coloring page into something visually appealing, it gives us a great sense of satisfaction and achievement, as though we’ve saved a man (though in this case I feel I should say cartoon) from dying a colorless and humiliating death.
The kids love them, and so do the adults.
Cartoon coloring pages are a wonderful potential pastime for those who love cartoons and colors. Since they provide the outlines of the characters, you don’t have to waste your time and energy trying to copy their structure and proportion perfectly, and eventually give up, thinking that it was all futile. All you have to do now is get onto the internet and print all the cartoon coloring pages that you wish to color, absolutely free of cost.
You can then spend several hours of complete enjoyment with these pages, create a complete scrapbook full of your colorful creations or even frame them and put them up on your wall. If you do the same for your child too, they are sure to enjoy the entire experience and love every moment of it.
Cartoons provide us with innumerable possibilities when it comes to color combinations. They don’t follow any rules regarding which object should have which color, and that makes coloring them extremely interesting. For instance, a human face can change its hue to almost any shade, according to the situation and its mood. This gives children a much greater scope of creativity and allows their imagination to break all barriers and go beyond the realm of logical thinking, into the fantastic world of art, where the only rule is that there are no rules.
